Hi friends,
If you’ve ever been seduced by trumpet mushrooms at the store but had no idea how to actually cook them, keep reading. These sweet-savory, soy-maple glazed mushrooms are perfect for beginners.
This recipe is not new, but rather something that’s been buried on my site for a few years that I recently had the urge to revive.
Like many of us four years ago (almost to the day), I did a lot of experimental cooking while in quarantine.
The first time I picked up trumpet mushrooms was on one of our early morning, masked and gloved expeditions to the Brooklyn Wegmans, where we’d stock up for the week. I was excited to play with a new ingredient and this marinate-then-sear method was the first thing I did with the meaty ‘shrooms.
I recently remade the dish and fell in love with these sweet, garlicky mushrooms all over again. The recipe calls for just a handful of ingredients and relies mainly on pantry staples (like rice vinegar, soy sauce, and sesame oil). You can serve these mushrooms as a main course, an appetizer, or a spotlight-stealing side dish…
